![]() ![]() He received it and was upset because he didn't realize it had a USC-C connector to connect to his DAW while the connectors on the other side of the hub were all USB-A. This week he purchased a new USB Hub from Amazon for his DAW. There's no reason that a smartphone couldn't replace my laptop other than the DAW software is currently lacking on Android and iOS devices. With one connection I can disconnect/reconnect my PC from my entire DAW setup. Everything is connected through that docking station including my external video monitors. I purchased one of these USB-C hub docking stations. That's actually how my current PC laptop is configured. Your larger screens, your larger keyboard and mouse, your soundcard interface, your DAW controller, your PD supported Power supply, your USB SSDs, etc, etc. Connected to that docking station is all your DAW peripherals. So the use case work flow is that you walk into your studio and you connect your smartphone to a USB-C docking station. Every new smartphone and tablet now has a USB-C connector. Macbook Pro laptops now only have USB-C connectors on it, but people use those for DAW work all the time. USB-C connectors are now becoming a standard across all platforms, USB-A is becoming obsolete just because it is larger in size and can't be put inside a smartphone. The use case is that our mobile phone travels with us wherever we go and they keep getting more powerful every year. ![]() So while working on a small screen seems ridiculous for DAW work that is really not the use case. Mobile phones are currently driving technology in many aspects where Android and iOS are leading the way. The PC as we know it in many ways is starting to become a thing of the past. ![]() I poke him in the ribs about this same thing all the time.we're the same age.Īnyways, to my actual point. ![]() I have a friend in the studio biz where we used to work together in the same studio. Personally, no insult intended but I feel this is just lack of forward thinking of where technology is currently headed and being older (like myself) and grown accustom in our ways of thinking. (Moreover that Tablet has a 180° turnable keyboard that is in place when needed ) As discussed above I would not be inclined to use it for any complex stuff but just for doing a simple recording. ![]()
